To launch our fall / winter collection, Arrojo Studio introduces “Funkstörung”. Conceptualized by our own Chrystoph Marten, our inspiration is taken from the annual Arrojo Studio underground event. This collection features strong color, with bold shapes and textures. The word, Funkstörung, is German for “transmission interference” -(like the snow on a television). It is this “interference” that Chrystoph, is translating. He compares ”funkstörung” to the “complete overload of information facing all of us from today’s society, especially the media.” This static was replicated in the color process, by using grains of sand to color the hair, creating individual points of color. While the styling techniques used are old fashioned - lots of roller sets and teasing - the look is very current, inspired by modern girls on the streets of New York City. All clothing was generously provided by Cloak, a Russian born designer, whose darkly elegant aesthetic perfectly complements the look.
